Dr. Margaux Buchanan, DVM
Founder, AVS In-Home Veterinary Euthanasia
Serving Sarasota & Manatee Counties
Dr. Margaux Buchanan brings over a decade of compassionate, skilled veterinary experience to the most personal aspect of pet care: end-of-life support. A 2011 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Buchanan has spent most of her career as an equine veterinarian, caring for horses across the country before settling in Sarasota in 2020. Through her work with aging and terminally ill animals, she witnessed the need for gentle, in-home euthanasia services—and the peace it brings to both pets and their families.
In 2025, she founded AVS to provide small animal in-home euthanasia services across Sarasota and Manatee counties. Her mission is simple yet profound: to give every pet the chance to pass peacefully at home, free of fear, and surrounded by love.
Dr. Buchanan is known for her calm, empathetic presence and her unwavering dedication to honoring the human-animal bond. Her approach blends clinical expertise with heartfelt compassion, ensuring that each family receives the guidance and care they need during one of life’s most difficult moments.
In addition to her work with AVS, Dr. Buchanan remains active in equine veterinary medicine and continues her advanced training in holistic and rehabilitative therapies. Whether working with sport horses or family pets, she brings the same level of respect, gentleness, and integrity to every interaction.
Dr. Buchanan is honored to be a part of the Sugar’s Gift Foundation Team, sharing in their mission to provide dignified end-of-life care for beloved companion animals, regardless of economic constraints.
